Artist Statement

 

I had my first encounter with clay in High School, but  it would be many years before i found my way back to ceramics. Now, having a background in drafting and design has given me the skills to handle the clay with much more ease.

 

I enjoy incorporating the contrasts of sharp lines and smooth curves in to my work, as well as crossing the boundaries between sculptural and functional. As seen in many of my pieces, they take on shapes that are not traditional of functional pieces. Instead they become beautiful sculptures whose secondary purpose is that of a functional nature.
